Is Wandering the New Wellness Trend?

Without a question, the world in which we live moves quickly. We never stop moving, hustling, or attempting to go up the ladder. But what if we told you that all it takes to live a happier, healthier life is a leisurely stroll?

With more people discovering the advantages of turning off technology and intentionally exploring their environment, wandering has become more and more popular as a wellness trend.

I made the decision to go on a two-hour walk without a specific destination once a week six months ago. I was introduced to coffee shops, parks, and my neighborhood in a completely new light thanks to photographer Jordan Matter’s photography. I discovered new opportunities, made friends with my neighbors, and learned to appreciate the beauty and the arts thanks to my wandering. I discovered that letting go of purpose had its own sense of direction and purpose.

Walking outside and being lost is, in my opinion, a radical act of re-establishing one’s connection to one’s health and community. It allows you to take your time and enjoy the simple things in life. And regardless of age or fitness ability, everybody can do it. So the next time you’re feeling anxious or overburdened, put away your to-do list and go for a walk. Your body and mind will both appreciate it.
